Volunteering: Helping Out Without Leaving Home

volunteer_shirtThe Internet is now a part and parcel of our lives, whether you use it simply for communication with friends and family or even as much as purchasing goods online to carrying out banking and bill-paying activities. All in all, we probably would not survive without the Internet – and that is not an exaggeration.

The Internet has one more thing on offer to make your life even easier: volunteering. All of us would love to give up some of our time in the name of volunteering, but for some of us, this in itself is a challenge, especially if you have to deal with children, job commitments, and any such others. These all make it difficult to spare time away from home or office. A handful of organizations, having taken this into consideration, are now making it possible to volunteer without ever having to leave home.
Volunteer Match, a non-profit online service that matches volunteers with organizations has on offer a virtual volunteering service. You can virtually volunteer for over a hundred positions which range from maintaining websites to transcribing audio taped interviews.

InterConnection, is an organization which provides virtual volunteer services to non-profit organizations in developing countries. Habitat for Humanity, Aid India and SIDS Awareness for Africa are just a few of the organizations assisted by InterConnection volunteers.

So if you are set on volunteering, but cannot seem to spare any time away from home, this could be the perfect way to begin. Start looking on the Internet, and log on to these two organizations’ websites and volunteer right away!
